Intuition vs Thinking Mind: How to Tell the Difference and Make Wiser Decision

We make hundreds of decisions every single day. But how often do you pause and ask yourself: Is this choice coming from my thinking mind or my intuitive mind?

More often than not, it’s the thinking mind that takes over—the part of us where fear, self-doubt, and worry reside.

For those who are familiar with spirituality, there’s often a natural curiosity to tap into the intuitive mind. This is where divine wisdom lies—at the intersection of clear thought and deep inner knowing. But the first step is learning to recognize the difference between your thoughts and your intuition.

The thinking mind is connected to the ego. It tries to analyze, figure things out, and control outcomes. It often second-guesses, judges, and stirs up fear or doubt.

Intuition, on the other hand, is brief and direct. It shows up as a gentle nudge, a gut feeling, or even a subtle physical sensation. It lives in the present moment, offers big-picture clarity, and speaks in symbols or few words. Most importantly, it’s subtle—you have to get quiet enough to notice it.

The next time you’re faced with a decision, pause for a moment. Notice: is this fear talking, or is it a quiet truth whispering within? With practice, you’ll learn to trust your intuition more deeply, allowing it to guide you toward choices that feel aligned and peaceful. After all, wisdom isn’t about silencing the mind completely—it’s about learning which voice to follow.
