The Origin of Inner Balance Wellness

A master and a student sit down over a cup of green tea, overlooking the perennial mountains, when the student posed his dilemma:

Master,

The Heart feels heavy,
The Mind is crazy,
The Body is lazy,
How do I get out of this misery?

The Master says,

Dear one, look within.

Inner Balance Wellness began as a passion project during my university training years as a therapist. It was initially called Inner Zen Healing, as I was fascinated by the philosophy and teachings of Zen. But over time, I found the name too limiting — and Inner Balance Wellness came to mind.

The name mirrored my own personal healing journey, as I explored a myriad of wellness practices to heal my body, mind, and soul. While the outer world often emphasized external wellness tools, I craved something more inward and balanced. As I continued my journey, I began to deeply experience what many Zen masters and spiritual teachers have long shared: that our outer reality reflects the world within.

When the heart feels heavy, the mind won’t stop racing, and the body is tired and lethargic — most of us (myself included, at times) tend to avoid what’s happening inside. We reach for something external — a spontaneous trip, a delicious meal, a distraction — often to numb the discomfort or escape the so-called “negative” emotions building up within. Eventually, I realized that this strategy no longer worked for me.

Inner Balance Wellness now exists as a space where I hope to hold space for others, through two main modalities: sound healing and counselling. As we journey inwards together, perhaps it’s time to restore your balance and awaken your inner peace — in this modern, oftentimes chaotic world.
